Abstract

This study examined the relationship between self efficacy and learning outcomes in the Basic Chemistry 1 practicum course at Sriwijaya University’s Chemistry Education Program. A quantitative correlation method was used with 38 students selected via purposive sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires and tests. The self efficacy questionnaire, adapted from Alkan (2016), showed high validity and reliability (Cronbach alpha 0.885). The learning outcomes test, validated using Aiken’s method, had 15 valid multiple-choice questions with reliability (Cronbach alpha 0.665). Data were analyzed using the Pearson Product Moment Correlation test. Results revealed a significant positive relationship between self-efficacy and learning outcomes (sig. 0.032 < 0.05). The correlation coefficient of 0.348 indicated a low positive correlation. These findings suggested that self efficacy influenced student learning outcomes.
